Muslim Professionals Network

In the name of Allah, the most gracious the most merciful.

Interested in working with other professionals? Maybe you have just graduated from university with a first class honours degree and are now working in the industry. Or, you are a successful businesswoman and want to share your entrepreneurial skills with other women. Or, maybe you are a young student, still at university, but eager to seek other like-minded individuals who can not only boost your confidence via motivation but also allow you to contribute to society.

Above all, you want to contribute your successes back to society, and pass on your valuable knowledge and skills to others. You realise that as a Muslim Professional the skills that you have are wasted if not utilised for the deen. You are sure that you want to contribute to Islamic projects, be it in the field of medicine, social sciences, computers, finance or engineering, yet how do you go about it ?

For a start you could join a virtual community of professionals who just like yourself are eager to work with other Muslims, especially in the South African community.

The following are the broad objectives and plans for the year. Please feel free to make suggestions and help where you can.

Expectations

- There is a need for a networking system within the Muslim Professional community

- Members have limited time and will not be interested in projects that are too time-consuming

- There is a need for short projects that caters to this limited time frame

- Events need to be well planned and organized professionally by the volunteers

The Network will have three main areas of focus:

• Education and information
• Social Networking
• Charity and community work

Education and information

This would typically involve workshops, classes, courses that are relevant to anything that Muslim Professionals would be interested in. Examples cited were Arabic classes which are currently taking place as well as the Islamic finance discussions which occurred on a monthly basis.

Social networking

This can take the form of social events, networking dinners and events. The purpose of these would be to provide the platform for Muslim professionals to get to know each other.

Charity and community work

This involves performing charity work in conjunction with charity, community and humanitarian organizations. Muslim professionals have limited time, however many are keen on getting involved on hands on projects- these can be arranged through the network.
